Overview of Creating Provisioning Policies
Creating a provisioning policy involves several sections which you must follow in order. Key points for each section are described below:
Details
- Identification and Description: Clear and descriptive names enable your team to quickly understand the provisioning policy's purpose and configuration details.
- Cloud Provider Configuration: Select the cloud provider (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) to which the policy applies. The policy will be enforced only for clusters provisioned by that provider.
Scope
Scoping a provisioning policy enables you to tailor provisioning controls to specific developer workspaces and/or stages, ensuring that cluster provisioning aligns with their organisational role, whether in production or non-production stages.
Policy Settings
Control where and how clusters are provisioned by setting region limits, cluster restrictions, cost controls, and instance type allowances. This enables you to optimise resource usage, manage costs effectively, and enforce consistent standards across workspaces.
Review Configuration Summary
Review a summary of the configuration you've specified and make any amendments as needed.
Apply the YAML
View and download the YAML and then apply it using Wayfinder's CLI or via your CI system. Alternatively, you can instruct Wayfinder to apply the YAML immediately.
